Ilyana > Soren

I believe Ilyana should be above Soren,(hopefully her moving up,but he could move down as well).

To be blunt,Ilyana has her part 1 chapters to be useful before Soren even shows his face.In part 3,they are pretty equal,Soren has extra att,so he might kill a few things in less rounds,but Ilyana gets more Def,so she can survive extra rounds from some things.

Come part 4,Ilyana is ridiculous on Tibarn's route,with effective damage on all laguz,as well as being ridiculously tanky,(4-5HKo'd by Cats/Hawks,and 6HKO'd by Ravens(but they double... ) at 20/20/5 with a Def support,and while Dragons/Tigers 2HKO,they only have hit in the 40's~ 50's range,so it's not all a loss against them either.

Also,speaking of tigers/Dragons,she one rounds both at range.

All this time,Soren is stuck on Ike's route.FOW and the hardest chapter in part 4 aren't fun when you have bad durability and still don't double anything. (He has 27 AS at 20/7,and he's still far off of doubling in 4-4)

Add together with the fact that Ilyana with a little careful positioning in 4-E-3 is 3HKO'd by red dragons,and ORKO's them back,even the RES whores are left with 11 Hp from a 20/20/11 Ilyana.

The problem is that Ilyana is not that good in part 1. She doubles nothing except a few things in her joining map and her Hit is always somewhat shaky, not to mention she isn't getting a whole lot better with her high starting level. Oh, and 2HKOd. 22/3 HP/Def always gets 2HKOd, and if she isn't lucky enough to get either 2 HP, 1 HP and 1 Def, or 2 Def by 1-5 she even risks OHKOs from 26 atk Fighters (these guys show in 1-6-1 as well).

I've shown at least twice how much Soren creams her statistically in part 3, and she never really catches up.

And for Ilyana to be 3HKOd by Red Dragons, she needs max Def (which she easily might never reach)(or 1 away with a full Def support), her support partner in range, and on a Cover tile. If she doesn't have the necessary Def, she needs Kurth. That seems pretty situational to me. Not to mention that this is the only part of Endgame where she doesn't suck (Have fun not doubling a damn thing in 4-E aside from Dragons and more often than not being 2HKOd. Oh, and being highly susceptible to critkills from the SM's that double her if we fight through 4-E-2). Not saying Soren is any good of course, just that Ilyana is one of the last units I'd choose for Endgame unless I only want her for support and healing, but then Soren is better for that anyway.

Ilyana may be not that good in part 1,but Soren is not that good in part 3.At least in part 1 Ilyana's weakening is more appreciated since your units are squishier.And while Ilyana isn't such a great candidate for 4-E, she's still a better candidate than Soren.Soren wins part 3,sure,but Ilyana is actually being useful at some point in time,and doesn't do much different than him except having a weaker chip.

Not exactly. Soren's chip damage in part 3 can actually be useful because almost no one in the GM's reliably ORKOs things. Ilyana is decent for a couple chapters, but then gets completely obsoleted once the likes of Volug, Zihark, etc. show up.

And I wouldn't even say she's a better candidate for 4-E at all, though being better there will have a value so close to nothing it's not even worth going into.

"Weaker chip" is an understatement. She'll come into part 3 doing something like 8-9 damage less, a gap that actually gets bigger. Say she promotes at level 18 in part 1, she has 16 Mag. Soren's base is 23 (Very possibly 24 by 3-2), but he also isn't stuck at E in Wind and Fire, both of which are stronger than Thunder. Oh, and Ilyana's ~16 AS (15.8, so it's not going higher very fast)? Starts getting doubled in 3-3. Have fun on Def.

She isn't just bad in part 3, she's like the worst unit until Lyre shows up.
