Not a whole lot of competition really. When they join up in C16:
16/1 Cormag - 39 HP | 18 Str | 14 Skl | 16 Spd | 6 Luck | 14 Def | 4 Res
--/10 Duessel - 43 HP | 18 Str | 13 Skl | 13 Spd | 8 Luck | 18 Def | 10 Res
Alright, so Duessel would seem to win durability and there's a slight Atk win (remember: Silver Axes). However, it's the AS that Cormag has on his side. Although he cannot wield anything heavier than Javelins and such, Cormag still has slight WTC thanks to Axereaver.
I have to go now but look at these HM stats to give you an idea of Cormag's good AS:
