Compare their bases:
Cuan: 34 hp, 16 str, 10 skl, 10 spd, 10 def, 3 res, 5 lck
Fin: 32 hp, 9 str, 8 skl, 10 spd, 7 def, 9 res, 8 lck
I booted up my game to check how much damage either character does. It turns out Cuan does about the same damage in 1 hit that Fin does in 2, but he also has continue.
Some other advantages: He starts out with a javelin and steel lance, Fin starts out with iron. He has a higher weapon level and extra movement. Once the brave lance comes into play, Cuan is better equipped with it due to 2HKOing basically everything, armors included. Also, if Cuan gets the pursuit ring, Fin has nothing on him even if we give him something desirable in return such as elite.
Not sure what else to say. Cuan would obviously win durability if it weren't for Fin's prayer, but it comes into question how reliable that actually is.
